This report, the sixteenth in a series of quarterly progress reports issued by the Research Laboratory of Electronics, contains a review of the research activities of the Laboratory during the three-month period ending December 6, 1949. Inasmuch as this is a preliminary report, no results should be considered as final. During the three-month interval the Laboratory has been host, jointly with the Department of Physics, to an International Conference on the Physics of Very Low Temperatures which was very well attended by the leading low-temperature physicists of the world. In addition the Laboratory has sponsored conferences on Telemetering and on Speech Analysis which attracted a large number of scientists from these fields. On November 14 and 15 the Laboratory was host to about seventy-five members of the Military Services at a conference which reviewed our scientific and educational program.en_US
